Simple present

Form

The simple present  is formed  with  the infinitive.

In the 3rd person singular  (he / she / it ) the verb ends in  -s (to like - he likes),  or -es after ch,o,x,s ( to go - he goes ).

Verbs ending in consonant and y change into -ies ( to cry - she cries)

          

  Use 1. Habitual actions.

I usually go to school by bus.

2. Facts that are always true. The moon moves round the earth.
3. Permanent situations. They live in England.
4. Future planned actions (schedules) He train leaves at 10.35.
5. To give instructions or directions. You turn left at the crossroads.

We use simple present with frequency adverbs and time expressions like:

frequently always every day once a week
generally sometimes every week twice a week
usually often every month several times
rarely never every year quite often
